Maci DeCarlo

Background:
Maci is a nationally certified school psychologist and current doctoral candidate in the field of psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. With a strong foundation in psychoeducational assessment, behavioral consultation, and therapeutic intervention, Maci has worked in diverse educational settings across New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maine. She specializes in evaluating and supporting students with complex needs, including those with learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, autism, and ADHD. In her current role, she leads multidisciplinary teams, develops individualized education plans (IEPs), and provides both direct counseling services and crisis intervention. Her approach integrates trauma-informed care with evidence-based strategies to promote student well-being and academic success. In addition, Maci has been trained in the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Parent Management Training and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - all of which inform her clinical work with children, adolescents and their families.
Education and Training:
Maci earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Special Education from Loyola University Maryland. She later obtained her Master’s degree and Certification in School Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she is now completing her PsyD. Her clinical training includes extensive experience in school-based mental health, functional behavioral assessments, and crisis intervention across general and special education populations. She is certified as a School Psychologist by the New Jersey Department of Education and holds the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential.
About me:
Outside of work, Maci enjoys connecting with her local community and spending time with friends and family. She’s passionate about advocacy for mental health access in schools and is actively involved in professional networks that promote inclusive, data-driven practices. Whether skiing, learning a new language, or exploring new restaurants, she values balance and brings that same philosophy into her work with students and families.
